He's baaaaack!

My long-lost good napper is back. I have to say, I thought he might be gone forever...the funny thing is, he spent a weekend @ my sis-in-law's house while Nate and I went to GR (Grand Rabbit, as Josh says) to see the Blue Man Group and have some child-free downtime (much needed, much loved).

I was afraid that the whole change of environment would totally weird him out. Turns out it had the exact opposite effect - he came back WAY better than he went. He is now walking into his room and getting in bed - JUST BECAUSE I TOLD HIM TO!!! And staying there.

Hallelujah!

Go before you go...

If you wanna save a little CO2, use the airport lavatory, not the one on the plane, since the fuel used for every mile-high flush could run a car for 6 miles.

Each lavatory visit emits 5.6 lbs of CO2 due to energy used flushing the toilet (airplanes use powered vacuums, not gravity like toilets at home). Hold it right there - go earlier, and skip cramped, nasty-smelling airplane bathrooms.

On short trips, flush before you fly, simple as that.

Catching Fireflies

Catching Fireflies is one of my favorite stores. Not at all child-friendly (trust me) but très charmant and definitely worth wasting an hour on a lazy afternoon...if you ever have one of those...

They give away a $100 gift card every month if the last 4 digits of your DL # match a randomly selected set. So in the interest of someone, someday winning, I'm posting this month's winning number. If you win I want a cut.

Your child is 28 months old

Hello, Sarah!

While your child is learning better motor skills these days — stacking blocks, turning pages, even standing on one foot — he may not have as good a grip on his emotions*. At this age he's still prone to a fair amount of pushing, yelling, and throwing tantrums at the drop of a hat. When he's upset, remind him that talking gets better results than acting out, and remember to praise him when she makes an effort to communicate with words.

Learn more fascinating facts about your 28-month-old's development.

Umm, yeah. Duh. I've noticed.

Blue Man Group's Exhibit 13

This is a BMG performance that I found to be really compelling @ the BMG show on Sunday.

Spittin' image

My stepmom told me that every time this pic comes up on her screen, people comment how much Josh looks like my dad. Scary, isn't it?

He looks sweet but don't let him fool you

Like the shirt? Buy it here.

Don't worry Canada - we've got your back.

Following on an earlier post, here are tonight's prayers:

"Thank you for Sam.
Thank you for Aunt Lisa's trip to Alabama.
And a banjo.*
And Daddy's trip.
And God Bless Canada.
Amen."

*Clearly, our worldview is highly influenced by "Oh, Susannah."

It's amazing that I'm still married...

Subject: Your Verizon Wireless Account Number ending with 6944-00001

Your current Verizon Wireless bill statement is now available for online viewing. The current balance due is $414.97.You can conveniently view your bill statement at www.verizonwireless.com.

--------

That's in ONE MONTH, kids. I cried until Verizon agreed to split the bill with me. I had a total idiot moment where I thought using Simul-Ring on my Vonage account would be cool. I didn't realize, however, that forwarded calls would all show as coming from my house phone, rather than other IN-network phones. So I used 1200 minutes on a 450 minute plan. Nice.

Seriously, who is that oblivious and totally irresponsible? Only me.

For you, Sam...

Tomorrow my 12-year old nephew Sam is coming to stay with us. Josh & I went to Target yesterday to buy him an air mattress (hey, nothing but the best for our guests).

Today, Josh made the bed for Sam...he even sacrificed his beloved Gog-Gog so that Sam could go to sleep with a woobie.Note how straight the blanket is on the bed? I didn't help. Well, I helped in the sense that it's my crazy OCD left-brained genes at work, but it was all him...I see hospital corners in his future :)

Tonight's prayers (as told by Joshua)

"Jesus, thank you for this food. Thank you for this day. Thank you for Aunt Lisa at Joshie's house. Thank you for Aunt Lisa day. Thank you for tatoos. Amen."

Blue Man Group

We are going to see them in a few weeks - I'm pretty pumped. I've discovered the world of presale codes and we've have amazing seats lately - 8th row for Cirque du Soleil, 3rd for Sesame Street Live, and 2nd for the Blue Man Group. It has been fun. So far, sadly, SSL has been the highlight. Sorry CdS - Bert in a leisure suit is just as cool as it gets.

Playing drums with Uncle Pete

Small and blurry (thank you Motorola) but cute just the same...Josh played drums w/ Uncle Pete for a half hour, and jammed on the keyboard with Ben.
I think the Dressers may have created a monster...he's never going to sit still in church again.

Joshua & his baby doll

Well, Josh has finally stopped calling his new cousin Baby Jesus. He loves to take care of baby Tegan, holding him, giving him bottles, wrapping him up in blankets. He even gave him a bottle of Vitamin Water to drink the other day. What a generous kid.
